End of the competition regarding the names of streets within the area of the Bydgoszcz Industrial and Technological Park

   A A A

The Bydgoszcz Industrial and Technological Park accomplished the largest investment in its history and, simultaneously, one of the largest infrastructural projects within the area of the City of Bydgoszcz. As a result, over 7 km of new roads were built, together with pavements, bicycle tracks, lighting, water and sewage systems, as well as a storm water drainage system. The value of the project amounts to PLN 44 million. To perform the task, BPPT obtained financial aid from the European Regional Development Fund, within the Regional Operational Programme of Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province for the years 2007-2013, and funds from the state budget in the amount of over PLN 16.6 million.

The "opening" of the Bydgoszcz Industrial and Technological Park area is planned for the beginning of the new year. The streets in BPPT will become available to the investors and the inhabitants of Bydgoszcz. This will, simultaneously, allow for passing from Glinki Street to the city ring road (national road no. 10), while public transport will be introduced in the Park area – extension of bus line no. 53.

So far, all real estate within the area of the Bydgoszcz Industrial and Technological Park has had the same address – ul. Wojska Polskiego 65. The names of the streets in this area were the same as the names of the streets in the city, and were only considered to be temporary ones.

Inclusion of the streets in BPPT in the road system of Bydgoszcz created the possibility of giving them new names. The Bydgoszcz Industrial and Technological Park, in cooperation with the City Street Names Team, organized a competition for giving the streets their names. Fifty participants filed 64 proposals in total for the streets located within the area of BPPT.

The commission selected some proposals out of all those received and recommended them to the Bydgoszcz City Council. The authors of the winning proposals are, ex aequo: Karol Długołęcki and Jeremi Jaruś, whose proposals honoured industrialists and engineers from Bydgoszcz.

The agenda of the 20th Session of the Bydgoszcz City Council planned for 29th December 2011 included voting on the project of a resolution giving names to the streets within the area of the Bydgoszcz Industrial and Technological Park.

The award and distinction ceremony for the competition will be planned in the near future after new names have been given to the streets by the City Council.
