Bydgoszcz is the eighth largest city in Poland, and is home to the Provincial Governor's office. It is the capital city and the largest centre of Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province. At the end of 2010, the number of inhabitants amounted to over 356,000 people (the whole Bydgoszcz agglomeration - over 450,000), almost 68 per cent of whom are inhabitants of working age, and 13 per cent are those of pre-working age. In April 2011, the unemployment rate in Bydgoszcz was recorded at 8 per cent, compared to the national average of 12.6 per cent.
